Start With the Right Office

Custody information changes by the system that holds the person. A local booking at Orleans County Jail is handled by the Sheriff's Office and jail staff. Sentenced state-prison custody is handled by New York State DOCCS. Court charge records are handled through New York courts and the Orleans County Clerk. Federal and immigration holds may require BOP, ICE, federal court, or the agency that placed the hold.

Records and Courts

For public-records requests to Orleans County, the county FOIL page directs completed FOIL forms to Foil_Requests@orleanscountyny.gov. For Orleans County Court record searches, the County Clerk form is county-only, limited to a two-year search range, and lists a $5 search fee.
